About Michèle

As a child and a young woman, I was skinny, like Twiggy skinny.  Adventurous and outgoing by nature (my husband calls me Adventure Girl), sometimes I wasn’t able to do things other kids could.  Skinny did not mean healthy.

As I got older, things got worse.  I had trouble breathing (asthma and sarcoidosis), I lost my womb (endometriosis) and much of the sight in my left eye from inflammation (uveitis). Let’s not forget the ever present allergies.

One condition would subside and another would raise its ugly head.  I felt like I was playing Whack-A-Mole. I was running from one specialist to another, looking for answers, but getting no healthier. All they did was suppress my symptoms with steroids and shrug their shoulders.

Privately, we joked that I was the person with all the weird diagnoses.  But this was no joke.   I gave up hopes of having a family, of getting my degree, and I was worried I would never be able to have the lung power to sing again, something I truly enjoyed.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, I gained weight. A lot of weight.  I ballooned from an unhealthy 98 lbs (44.5 kg) when I got married to an even unhealthier 195 lbs (88.5 kg) at my heaviest. At 35, I experienced heart failure.  Not surprisingly, my doctor told me I was pre-Diabetic and needed to be on medication for the rest of my life.

This was not the life I wanted for myself and certainly didn’t match my nickname.  Determined to change things, I dieted.  Some plans worked for a while, but most just created a yo-yo effect where I gained back even more than I lost.

When I transitioned from working a regular job, my goals were to release weight, improve my health, travel and extend my social circle.  For me, retirement was going to be about freedom, adventure and fun. But first I needed to get healthy.

My WILDFIT Journey

So, I came to WILDFIT as a client first before ever considering becoming a coach. I needed to deal with inflammation from an old injury, and I couldn’t take NSAIDS because, you guessed it, I was allergic to them. I signed up and then found out I was going to have knee surgery two days before the program started.  How was I going to deal with that too? I needed WILDFIT more than ever.

With WILDFIT, I healed more quickly than I thought possible.  I went down two sizes and my health transformation was even more impressive than my weight release.  I found I could control my inflammation by eating differently and with that, all of my other “conditions” improved, including my blood sugar.

WILDFIT cleared up the food confusion caused by the diet industry and the food manufacturers.  It taught me how to eat to support my well-being, and gave me insight into my behaviour and psychology.  Such Freedom!

I want you to feel that way too!

I became a certified WILDFIT Coach during the height of the COVID pandemic.  While everyone else was gaining weight, I got trimmer and healthier! Additionally, I am a certified Trainer in Nonviolent Communication, with over 20 years of experience in counselling individuals, couples and leading groups to improve their relationships and to be compassionate with themselves and others, a natural fit with my WILDFIT coaching.

I firmly believe that optimum health requires a mind-body-spirit balance. My coaching style is all about empowerment, encouragement and telling it like it is (with compassion). My adventurous spirit extends to food. I love to cook and  share recipes.

Adventure Girl rides again! Now my husband of 40+ years, and our rescue dog Chula, currently split our time between beautiful Vancouver Island and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.   While I am delighted to work with individuals of all ages who want to achieve the best for their health, my focus is on those who, like me, are older and experiencing health challenges, in particular Type 2 Diabetes.

What Clients Say:

Michèle’s coaching was great. She was able to keep me focused and moving along successfully throughout the program. I felt really supported.  I felt safe that she would guide me.

I achieved more than I could have imagined possible, and there was nothing else I expected to achieve beyond weight loss, improved self-esteem/confidence, and a better understanding of my relationship with food.
