A few years back, I had put on about 35 lbs (16 kgs) in short time, learned I was in early menopause with the typical litany of symptoms, in addition to depression, anxiety, adult acne, high blood pressure, adrenal fatigue, recurring UTIs, and year-round allergies. To top it off I was taking anything I could find to combat extremely poor sleep at night and downing energy drinks and excessive caffeine to counter super low energy every day.
Any of this sound familiar?
When a doctor said I’d not likely drop the extra weight and the only other help offered was an anti-depressant, I hit the floor and hopelessness closed in around me. I gave up. I slowly retreated from socializing and attempting to date. My mood and attitude became edgy and sad. I no longer recognized myself and was deeply ashamed of this person I saw in the mirror, physically, mentally, and emotionally. In detaching from my own world, I missed out on so much… sharing meaningful time with my friends and family, meeting intriguing new people, having incredible experiences, and forging a new career.
I was not living – I was surviving at best. If you’ve felt this, then you know!
In discovering WILDFIT, I finally reached my limit of being this helpless and exhausted person amid a spiraling health crisis. I tried so many diets and programs that I lost count – nothing worked or worked for long. I had essentially given up on dropping the excess weight, but I decided that this was the last I’d invest in and enrolled thinking if I could improve my overall health, then maybe I’d be in a better place to accept the size and shape I was utterly resisting.
It turned out that getting nutrition and emotional eating under control in those 90 days changed everything! I was able to get off medications for blood pressure, adrenal, allergies and supplements for sleep and energy. Mental fog disappeared, menopause symptoms nearly gone, I released 25 lbs (over 11 kgs) and went on to release another 10 lbs (4.5 kgs) in the weeks that followed. I got out in the world again, embracing an ever-growing and loving social circle, throwing myself into new experiences, and saying YES to exciting opportunities that come my way. I felt physically and mentally healthier, and more in control of myself and my future than I have in over 20 years. And I still do!
