About Annie

“My calling as a WILDFIT coach is to support emotional healing
because that is at the root of solving emotional eating.”

Annie Hopson

Annie Hopson has long been a “permissionary,” traveling through life, lending permission to people seeking to figure out and create what they truly want in their lives — that is, until they can generate permission for themselves and those around them. Assisting in freedom and personal expansion is one of her greatest joys!

As a former physicist and math/science teacher, Annie loves guiding life experiments. She taught creative problem-solving for over a decade at Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth. Concurrently to her teaching career, Annie fostered a deep interest in psychoneuroimmunology.  On the first day of the Baltimore  School of Massage in 1990, the school owner challenged her to experiment with energy and this interaction between psychological processes and the nervous and immune systems of the human body.  Annie has spent the last twenty-some years fiercely modeling for her children to be independent, responsible, emotionally savvy adults.

Along the way, she has been culminating her many years of personal growth training with Tantric Counseling and Love Coach certifications along with becoming a Certified Cuddle Party Facilitator and Conscious Feelings Practitioner.

In the summer of 2017, she came down with Lyme disease and had to take time off from work. Her son did his best to care for her, but Annie found that comfort foods (pizza, popcorn, spicy Asian noodles) didn’t work well while recovering from an illness. So instead of having a fun Thanksgiving weekend with family at home, she unexpectedly experienced her first three-day fast at the hospital after being diagnosed with diabetes and undergoing surgery in which the doctor removed necrotic gall bladder and impressively sized gallstones!

After returning from the hospital, Annie was diagnosed with diabetes and several other ailments.  She was so sick that her United States-based health insurance company took drastic action for her health. First, they waived her co-pay payments. Next, they sent her a blood pressure monitor to monitor her daily measurements remotely. Finally, they brought her in for monthly blood test tracking. And they assigned a health care nurse to call her weekly to ensure she followed the prescribed medication health care plan. But, of course, Annie did not at all follow that plan.

Instead, Annie enrolled in WILDFIT.

The health care nurse was horrified at the food choice stories Annie shared.  In the end, directly after WILDFIT, all of Annie’s health measurements were declared normal-for-her-age.  Annie returned the monitoring equipment. The health nurse no longer called. The doctor charged co-pay fees again. The lab again did bloodwork only during annual checkups.  So Annie joined the WILDFIT coaching team to support and be supported in becoming outrageously healthy.

Since graduating from her mothering role, Annie has lept into a nomadic lifestyle, holding space for three-day and week-long facilitated transformational experiences as well as extended in-home experiences.

Annie is also passionate about the healing power of touch, serving as a massage therapist and touch educator, focusing on Betty Martin’s Wheel of Consent. She has been a longtime member of the American Massage Therapy Association and the National Guild of Hypnotists, a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader, and a certified professional Cuddlist.

Annie catalyzes personal transformation through her presence, persistence, expert facilitation, and willingness to “get real” with anyone willing to “get real” too.

"Our food has so much to do with our emotional experience of the world. I really believe that anybody doing any therapeutic work in the space of sadness and depression and so forth should be beginning that journey with nutrition. I didn't know that when we started." Eric Edmeades
